Hello Jirka,

I'd like to make sure if fluxes across meshlines are net.

When water passes through meshlines straight down, values would be negative, whereas upward water flow across the lines are calculated as positive values. And the sum of these negative and positive fluxes are shown as "flux across the mesh line" as an output.

If this is so, is there any way to separate positive and negative fluxes across meshlines?

The sign for fluxes does not depend on the upward and downward direction (as in HYDRUS-1D). Here it depends on the orientation of the mesh line. Since fluxes are reported continuously, you should be able to see when flow is in one direction and when it is in another one. However, if you have at the same time fluxes in both directions (e.g., across different parts of the mesh line) then you cannot distinguish that from the output, since they are simply added together. You would need to define shorter meshlines.

Hi Jirka,

Thank you for quick reply. I'd like to check one more thing.

I set a horizontal mesh line across a model boundary. When water flows parallel to the mesh line, the mesh line does not measure flux, does it?

Regards

Tina

No, it should not. The code should register only water that actually passes through the meshline.
